J&M Davidson London

Tina Vaia Studio transformed the 120 square metre J&M Davidson store on Mount Street, London, by introducing a refreshed palette of textures and colours that balanced modernity with artisanal craftsmanship.

The existing glass shelving was replaced with hand-woven, pale wicker shelves, introducing warmth and texture. The store’s entrance featured a pale lemon resin shelf, adding a modern contrast to the wicker elements.Tables and chairs were introduced that were handmade with traditional Japanese joinery, while the lower-ground floor was reimagined with a deep, rich olive carpet. Armchairs were reupholstered with British fabrics designed by Lewis and Wood, offering a sophisticated touch.

The walls were re-painted in a warm terracotta, providing a rich backdrop for pops of color and textures throughout the space. Rails were sprayed dark blue, and a bubblegum pink resin top replaced the coffee table glass, adding unexpected vibrancy.

Various furniture designers and artisans contributed to creating a space that felt quintessentially English with subtle Japanese influences. The final touch included bespoke ceramics designed to complete the store’s dressing.
