ME+EM Kings Road, London.
Following the launch of ME+EM Edinburgh, Tina Vaia, along with EJM Studio, were commissioned in 2023 to oversee the design of the fashion brand’s new store on the King’s Road, London. Maintaining their signature design ethos for ME+EM, the vision for the 170 square metre space was a contemporary reinterpretion of classic British design archetypes.
The colour palette draws inspiration from Josef Albers' Homage to the Square, layering neutrals and mustard tones in a harmonious, chromatic fashion through diverse materials and textures.
Key materials grounding the scheme include limestone flooring and clay plaster walls, accented with brass and walnut details. Traditional Victorian mouldings, recast in a buttery resin, serve as display surfaces—creating a striking contrast with curated pieces like the burl wood entrance table.
A custom-designed statement table by Tina Vaia studio anchors the space, surrounded by a selection of vintage furniture. Additionally, a bespoke dog bed, crafted from repurposed ME+EM fabric offcuts, reflects the brand’s sustainable ethos.
Limestone floor tiles shift in scale throughout the interior, extending into the fitting rooms where a softer, more intimate atmosphere is cultivated.
